The REAL Jeffrey Osborne
So apparently Barack Obama mistakenly referred to George Osborne as "Jeffrey" not once, but three times during the G8 meeting.
What does this say about your "special relationship" when one of you can't even remember the other's name? Apparently Barack was thinking about this Jeffrey Osborne...in fact, he said as much, when he realized his mistake.
Flying high, upon the wings of love...that sounds pretty "special" to me. (Confession: This was "our song" way back when. Sweet tune, even after all these years.)
But to confuse George, who attended the exclusive boy's school St Paul's in the eighties, for Jeffrey, an R&B singer from the eighties... I think it's an indication that George's name doesn't come up very often in cabinet meetings. Which doesn't surprise me. Why on earth would Jack Lew and the rest of the economic team refer to George Osborne and his terrible austerity economic plan? That shit won't fly, not even on the wings of love.
When contacted, the real Jeffrey Osborne replied:
"I was really not aware that he was that much of a fan that he would call the Chancellor Jeffrey Osborne.
"Tell the Chancellor when I come over I will have to hook up with him and we will do a duet of On The Wings Of Love or something."
We have that to look forward to, the beginning of a whole nother special relationship.
