I liked the way those cows on the right arranged themselves as a trio. I guess all three dove for the grass just as I took the photo. They live near Denham, and were enjoying a brief respite from the rain.
About ten minutes before, and ten minutes after this was taken, we were deluged by summer downpours.
Summer's been like that around here, one minute the sun is blazing down for all it's worth; the next a cloud erupts overhead. They call it "unsettled" weather, a vague term I've learned is meant to hide the utter bafflement of the Met Office.
We were supposed to have a warm, dry summer, but predicting the weather is less a science and more astrology around here. Something to do with the jet stream and the alignment of the planets.
Or maybe they just study the positions of cows.
