This headline at CNN's homepage threw me: "Amazon poses 'Stonehenge' puzzle". Huh? Until I read the article, about a stone circle discovered in the Amazon basin, not a new scheme available at Amazon.com.
It got me thinking, though, about the ancients' preoccupation with the sun and its movements. The Clava Cairns which we saw in Scotland were also aligned with the sun's position at certain times of the year, as is of course Stonehenge. I'm not sure we should be surprised to learn this, though.
One day, thousands of years from now, researchers will discover the residents of the Home Counties had a similar preoccupation with train schedules. They even had things called "widgets" on their computers that tracked the trains, leading researchers to conclude that Commuter Humans were smarter than previously thought.
