We leave for Scotland in the morning, for a week. The dog seems to be better after her strange episode the other day, though I'm watching her carefully. Yesterday she wouldn't jump in the car to retrieve the groceries. (I always give her a few items to bring in, so that she feels like she's contributing to the family.)
I'd planned to do lots of walking, maybe bag some Munros (mountains named after the guy who mapped them). We could also take a boat trip on the loch—dogs are allowed. And the haunting Culloden battlefield is nearby, if we're in the mood for Scottish angst.
We're staying at Loch Ness, in a cottage with "beautiful views of the loch". This should be a prime location for monster spotting. It's not entirely inconceivable there's something there, in the 750 foot depths. Did you know there is more water in Loch Ness than in all the lakes and rivers of England and Wales combined? And there was a whale in the Thames not long ago; could there not be the occasional whale in the loch?
Or perhaps it's just a cow.
I don't think they have internet in Scotland, so don't look for posts from me. Unless I spot the monster. Then the news will be all over this blog.
If you want to keep an eye on us, you can check out the Loch Ness live cam. Looks like the gorse is in bloom.
