My Little Pony, now with neato clothes for hours of dress up fun!
This pony lives next door to John Milton's cottage. When the plague came to London in 1665, Milton escaped to the leafy suburbs, where he continued to write dreary poetry. Unfortunately he didn't gaze upon My Little Pony here; by that time he was blind.
No matter; he still managed to crank out purple prose like this:
Meadows trim with daisies pied,
Shallow brooks and rivers wide;
Towers and battlements it sees
Bosom’d high in tufted trees,
Where perhaps some beauty lies,
The cynosure of neighboring eyes.
L’Allegro. Line 75.
Coincidentally, Radio 4 this week had a series on the wild ponies of Britain.
