I have a few pet peeves when it comes to cookbooks: I have one that uses funky type for the recipe titles, which means I must stop and decipher each one. Another lists the ingredients paragraph style, from left to right instead of up and down.
Today I'm trying to come up with a design for the recipes in the cookbook Ginger and I are putting together, which you bloggers have been generously submitting recipes to.
I need your feedback, so to speak. What bugs you about cookbooks?
Please don't say "no photos". From what Ginger tells me, it looks like photos aren't going to come out well in this production—not sure if we can get around that by using gray scale or not. Anyone got any expertise there?
Meanwhile, please continue to spread the word. We still need lots more recipes. If you don't cook, maybe you drink. Or maybe you could write about why you don't cook. Or write about an eating experience. Wax lyrical about aubergine. Fantasize about chocolate. Compose a haiku on hunger.
So again, tell me what your pet peeves are when it comes to cookbooks, or what you really love about your favorite cookbook. Other than that gravy stain on page 43—gravy stains don't look good in black and white either.
