East Anglia is known for its farmland, its cathedrals and colleges, but not its cows. There were a few sheep though, beautifully depicted in the stained glass of Ely Cathedral, one of the most impressive of all England's cathedrals.
A close look at the late-Victorian glass revealed a few cows as well as a sweet lamb being rescued by a shepherd, demonstrating the true meaning of "spare the rod".
