The shock of losing my computer is slowly sinking in. Hundreds of bookmarks, gone, including food news for Wednesday. Pictures of photogenic animals, whom I'd promised to make famous on Friday Animal Blogging, gone, for now at least. (Ewes really are quite the hams; did you see Babe?)
Last time this happened (the hard drive, that time) was during the week Katrina hit. I hardly bothered to complain, so great was others' pain. This week, it's an earthquake that shames me. I know, I know, my pain is nothing compared to those who've lost homes, life, and limb, yet complain I do. (And curse Apple. Bloody capitalist techno geeks. Forget the freaking useless iPods, and make a computer that works, tossers!)
Meanwhile, I'm still trying to hook up my old (and reliable--remember that concept?) computer, a last century model G4, but so far I've only managed to untangle some cords. The Network Administrator has gone off to another continent; when he returns, hopefully with a new logic board from Apple America, I'll have a working iMac again. But I seem to have lost confidence in such things as logic boards and hard drives.
Last night, I actually watched TV, a skill I thought I had lost. There was an interesting documentary on BBC about Hurricane Katrina. Maybe I'll write about it later. (Yes, Brownie knew the levees would fail. Has he been hired by Apple yet?)
I'll most likely be using pen and paper to do that, though.
