Where the expression "making calf eyes" comes from.
This little guy is Socks, so named for his four white ankles. The other cows are used to me now, and just glance up and continue grazing when I come out. But Socks always hurries over to the back fence, and listens intently while I talk babytalk to him. "You're a pretty baby cow, yes you are," I croon. (If you think talking babytalk to a cow is strange, you're at the wrong blog.)
I think he has a wee crush on me. He probably goes back and tells his calf buddies everything I say. They just roll their eyes, and nudge each other the way adolescent boys do, making Santorum jokes no doubt.
But I think there's nothing so sweet as a calf in love.
