My computer is acting up (why do they always do that when the network administrator is out of town?) so I couldn't post Friday Animal Blogging photos yesterday.
It's just as well.
Right now there are lots of animals that need your help in the Gulf region. Gina has more info at Dogma. (I'll post more links later, when a Firefox enhanced computer is available.)
I'll say this again: Most shelters don't accept dogs and cats. Many people had to make a choice between evacuating to safety and leaving their best friends. I know of one New Orleans resident who was out of town when the hurricane struck, leaving her pets at home for someone else to look after. No word if they are safe.
I've also read of one little boy who was recently evacuated, his puppy torn from his arms as he got on the bus. He cried so hard he vomited.
Yes, there are people who need your help too. No question their situation is desperate.
But we've made certain animals dependent on us for their very survival—let's be as loyal to them as they are to us.
What would Fido do?
