Some days it sucks not to be able to watch American TV. I think February 22 will be one of those days:
Link: A 'One Day at a Time' Reunion!.
The Cooper women and the friendly building superintendent Schneider are back! That's right, VALERIE BERTINELLI, MACKENZIE PHILLIPS and the rest of the "One Day at a Time" crew have come together for a long-awaited TV reunion!
One Day at a Time was must-see TV when I was growing up. Of course, back then I identified with poor misbegotten younger sister Valerie Bertinelli, and wished my mom was Bonnie Franklin and my brother was Mackenzie Phillips. My mom liked the show, too, because she was actually a closet red-head, and felt the show broke new ground for her people. (It did, too. I don't have to hide behind frosted locks like my poor mom, ashamed to be the red-headed stepchild she was born to be.)
Now, with two teenaged daughters, I suspect I'd identify with the mom more. I even have my own Schneider, though I married mine. (He's got his own tool belt, too--and as I always say, a tool belt does for us females what a thong does for men.)
So now that the 70s have become popular again, can we have Nixon back? Really, I'm sorry the liberal media ever forced him to resign. He wasn't that bad. Honest. (Deep Throat was probably just some male prostitute.) Here's the deal: We apologize, Nixon gets the Oval Office, and you keep George Bush. (We'll even throw in Pat Buchanan as VP.)
