Our houseguests left yesterday. London was on her best behaviour, producing day after day of sun-filled, flower-strewn spectacles. Only a few rain clouds marred the two-week visit of my sister-in-law and her family, two wonderful children who I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know. (They also live outside the US, so it's been difficult to keep up with this branch of my husband's family.)
Here are some photos I took during the last couple of weeks. Enjoy our weather, vicariously. We paid for it, with an ugly grey winter.
Next week I go to The Netherlands. You can read about my last trip to Holland here. Yes, I'm double dipping—Holland is the only place I can think of that deserves a second visit.
Well, maybe London in Springtime.
Hyde Park, bulbs bursting through the green grass.
The Diana Fountain. The trees need some leaves, but they'll get there.
St James Park, the most beautiful park in the world. Well, I'm pretty sure it is.
Parliament Square. I hear Diana's son is getting married soon. Couldn't pick a better time.
Or a better place...Westminster Abbey.
A more modern church: St Martin-in-the-Fields, the James Gibbs church off Trafalgar Square which is a model for many American churches.
Good evening, from Hyde Park.
