This is a photo of the Giza pyramids, taken from a panoramic vantage point all the tour bus guides take you to.
I've been playing around with a software program a friend showed us, Photomatix Pro. This is a trial version, so you'll see the Photomatix logo just above the skyline. I don't understand all its features yet, but the results so far make it seem like a worthwhile toy.
Basically, you take three bracketed photos—the same shot at three different exposures. Then import them into the program and play with the HDR image. (Don't ask me what HDR means; I haven't gotten that far.)
I could probably have cropped this one, or better yet taken better original photographs, but I like the raw effect.
And yes, those are storm clouds. Because guess what? It rained when we visited Giza.The gods were not smiling on me. This is why people with my luck need all the slick photo tricks we can get.
