What I've learned today:
Former McCain admirer Andrew Sullivan has had enough. "McCain has demonstrated in the last two months that he does not have the character to be president of the United States."
Former Gov. Jane Swift, who started the lipstick/pig controversy, is an idiot:
Swift then suggested that Obama was calling McCain a fish.
Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican VP nominee, wants to sell Alaska's gas to Japan.
Newsweek's Joe Klein says McCain's latest ad is "one of the most sleazy ads I've ever seen in presidential politics."
Yet what does the BBC talk about during the 5 and 6 p.m. radio newscasts? Lipstick. Which, I gather, is exactly what is being discussed on every newscast in America.
Despite record unemployment, two wars, falling house prices and a disappearing middle class, Americans are actually going to vote for a president based on a few words about lipstick.
I give up.
