"Ban Council Tax = Poor Tax"
There's a pretty virulent anti-tax movement here, and they've taken to spraypainting sites like this bird viewing hut at Stocker's Lake Nature Reserve. And on a fence rail I saw another slogan, Help Ban Council Tax=Poor Tax.
Ironically, it was probably council taxes that help to pay for facilities at the reserve. I guess they'd rather have the place torn down—or maybe they haven't thought that through.
Stocker's Lake is part of the Aquadrome, not only a nature preserve but also a water sports haven. The lakes were created from the quarries from which stone to build the original Wembley Stadium were taken. (Diagram that sentence; I dare you!)
The other day when I went, I watched a dog trying to rip a large root from the ground. He was working on it pretty diligently, while his guy just sat and watched him.
Getting to the root of the problem
I got some nice swan photos, too, but you'll have to wait for Friday.
