Friday Calf Blogging

Frecklecalf

Freckles the calf, on World Farm Animal Day, or thereabouts.

I'm not sure if World Farm Animal Day was October 1, October 2, or October 4, but anyway I missed it.

Darn. The cows and I were going to celebrate. Although I'm not sure there's much to celebrate about being a farm animal.

My dog thinks it's much nicer being a pet. If I could have one of the calves as a pet, I'd like to have Freckles. I could train him to do a few tricks, like stand and look adorable while I hold a camera in front of him.

I came across this slideshow last night, entitled "How to Photo a Cow." Very informative.

As always, you can check out other Friday animals at The Modulator's Friday Ark.

This is a very cute cow!

Yes, I just wanted to take him home. Well, he already was, almost, home--just over the fence!

Now Freckles is adorable. But about that video--why on earth are they drawing on the cows udders and attaching a tail wig (which looks weird)? Cows are beautiful as they are!

Freckles is so cute! Don't worry, all of October is vegetarian month, so you haven't missed anything!
I remember the people at Farm Sanctuary giving me tips on how to photograph the animals, especially the pigs. I think I'd been afraid to get down on their level, eye to eye, and once I started doing that, it made all the difference.

SusanV, you are right. If we stay in their cottages in the Peak District I'll ask why they did that.

And Bazu, that is good advice, as long as they are tame pigs!

pretty Freckles....moo-valeous.

It's funny how so many of your cows (in your pix) are just looking RIGHT AT you. Is your camera shaped like a carrot?
Well, I guess I should go read the animal photos how-to now.

OK, I looked at the slideshow, and NO thanks. Marking veins on the udder? Phil Spector tail wig?
