If this isn't original sin, I don't know what is.
Chocolate and sugar. Can you name two more decadently delicious ingredients? I thought not. This yummy dessert is basically just chocolate and sugar. There is really no redeeming quality to it whatsoever, except for the fact that it tastes utterly scrumptious.
I love the contrasting textures of the light sponge and the thick sauce. It's like a pudding, my favorite kind of dessert (British pudding, not the namby American Jello pudding.) But it's also like a cake. A sugar and chocolate cake.
Use the best chocolate you can get, and make sure it's Fair Trade. You deserve it, and so do the cocoa workers, who ought not be treated like slaves.
There. I feel better, less decadent. After all that sugar and chocolate one must think righteous thoughts.
Instructions for concocting your own sin:
Chocolate Pudding Cake
1 ¼ cups soy milk
2 ½ ounces 70% dark chocolate
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar
½ cup non-hydrogenated margarine
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 ¼ cup self-rising flour
4 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 ¼ cup boiling water
Powdered sugar, for topping
Preheat oven to 350F/180C degrees.
Combine the soy milk and dark chocolate in a sauce pan. Place over medium-low heat, stirring until the chocolate melts. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla. Set aside.
Beat sugar and margarine in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add the flour and cocoa powder, and the chocolate/soy milk mixture. Beat until thoroughly combined.
Pour mixture into a 4-cup baking dish. (You'll want to spray it with cooking spray first.)
Make the sauce: Combine brown sugar, cocoa powder, and boiling water. Pour over the cake mixture in the dish. (Do not mix the two.)
Bake for 40-45 minutes. Serve with a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top. (Place a small amount of powdered sugar in a wire mesh strainer, and shake gently over the top.)

Oh dear god. That looks so good. (It is its own redeeming value!)
I think I know what I'm making for valentine's day...

That looks sinful, indeed--at least it contains some flour!
BTW I made your pizza recipe last night and once again, it was a winner. Even though Trader Joe now supplies me with either ready to go whole wheat, corn meal, plain, or herbed up pizza dough for cheap, occasionally I like to get my hands floury--and the counter, the flour, my clothes.....

I've seen floury flour before, so that worked for me.
Bazu, I know you're on detox now but consider this something to look forward to.

Gotta say.. chocolate puddin cake is one of my altime favorites.. it predates, chocolate souffle, it predates "molten chocolate cake", it predates "chocolate decadence".. and all the other $9 desserts being foisted off on a public which has, lets face, it just FORGOTTEN what real choco joy is! A mound of puddin cake (hey in utah, we talked like we were from .. Hooterville) was THE best way to end a meal, end a soiree, end a day. That hasn't changed. The only thing that's changed is that it's dang near impossible (in Utah we say Dang a lot -- a Helluva lot) to even find any more. Talk about comfort food. It rules. I'm just sayin.... David

David, I'm all about comfort food (she types, holding a bowl of oatmeal in one hand).
