Recently I've begun waking in the wee hours of the morning, as I don't have enough time to worry during the day. This morning, after futilely attempting to fix the climate crisis for a while, I decide to turn on the radio in hopes that Radio 4 would have something entertaining on. They quickly inform me that North Korea has tested a nuclear weapon. The stock market in South Korea has dropped 3 percent in response.
World News goes on, and it turns out the rest of the planet is not faring much better. According to the NATO commander in Afghanistan, the average Afghan on the street is thinking they're better off with the Taliban. (This is NATO speaking, hardly an alarmist collection of nuts.)
Finally, to my relief, the Shipping Forecast comes on. Gale 8 expected in Bailey.
It's not even light outside, but already I can see the sky falling.
