KISS for Christmas: Simple holiday fare the best, says the NY Times (and, ironically, Martha Stewart).
And here's the black bean chili recipe they talk about from Bon Appetit. If you really want to make it simple and low cost, leave off grating the orange peel and just use orange juice, either fresh or from the fridge. And use dried beans, soaked for several hours (six is usually enough for black beans).
I thought this was a joke, but apparently Yahoo Finance thinks not: Burger King launches beef-scented body spray. It's bad enough people eat smelly food on the tube; now they're going to smell like that all the time? Pee-you!
Contaminated animal feed, which recently plagued Irish ham and beef products, is more common than you think. Nestle blames it for melamine-laced baby milk. (This is what happens when demand for meat is greater than the supply, folks. Get used to it as third-world demand ramps up.)
Forget simplicity; this is what holiday food should look like. (All vegan, of course.)
Now I need to get back to my own holiday preparations, which include this and this and this. And some other stuff I'll blog about later.
